Overview

At Breeze, we believe in empowering our customers to take meaningful action against climate change by supporting positive impact initiatives.

We allow our customers to be hyper-local in their positive contribution, ensuring the lives and environments they touch, feel the benefits of their support.

To achieve this, we’ve developed a carbon pricing model tailored to meet the needs of two distinct groups: corporate MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) customers and individual travellers.

Our approach balances affordability and responsibility, ensuring that everyone - from large organisations to individual explorers - can contribute to climate resilience and restoration in a way that aligns with their financial capacity and sustainability goals. By setting fair and transparent prices, we not only drive climate action but also foster a deeper understanding of the true cost of carbon emissions and their wider societal impact.

This model reflects our commitment to creating a sustainable future while making climate action accessible to all.

The Breeze Approach

  • The first step in our strategy is setting an ICP that determines how much customers contribute per tonne of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emitted through their travel activities.

Breeze applies two ICPs to reflect the different financial capacities and climate accountability expectations of our customer segments:

    • MICE customers are charged a higher rate that reflects their greater ability to contribute and aligns more closely with climate policy benchmarks.

    • Individual travellers are offered a lower, more accessible rate to encourage widespread participation without creating financial barriers.

These ICPs form the foundation for calculating climate contributions, ensuring a direct and transparent link between emissions and action.

Carbon Price for MICE Customers: 50/t

Greater Financial Capacity: MICE customers - typically large corporations or institutions - have the financial resilience to absorb higher carbon prices without compromising operations. Charging €50 per tonne ensures that those most able to contribute are doing so at a meaningful level.

Reinforcing Climate Commitments: Many MICE-sector organisations have public sustainability strategies or net-zero targets. A €50/t price, aligned with compliance market benchmarks (typically €40–€100/t), embeds environmental cost into event planning and helps reinforce these goals.

Reflecting the Social Cost of Carbon (SCC): The SCC estimates the true economic, health, and environmental damages of emissions - and it typically ranges from €50 to over €300 per tonne. Pricing carbon at €50 for MICE customers encourages them to account for these broader societal impacts, not just offset costs. It promotes accountability for externalities like extreme weather, health burdens, and biodiversity loss.

Carbon Price for Individual Travellers: 10/t

Affordability: Individual travellers are more price-sensitive and likely to be discouraged by a high carbon fee. A €10 per tonne price is more accessible and keeps sustainability efforts within reach for the average consumer without significantly raising travel costs.

Voluntary Market Benchmarking: The €10/t rate aligns with the Voluntary Carbon Market average (typically €5–€15/t), offering a familiar and fair contribution level for individuals.

Encouraging Participation: A moderate price can help individual customers feel that their contributions to climate action are meaningful yet not prohibitively expensive. This approach will lead to higher engagement in climate initiatives and build positive sentiment toward Breeze’s commitment to sustainability.

Note: Importantly, neither of these prices will remain fixed. With climate science and regulation continually evolving, Breeze intends to review and adjust these prices on an annual basis.

  • Once an ICP is established, Breeze calculates emissions based on customer-provided input - such as travel distance, number of attendees, accommodation details, and event size - using a best-in-class emissions tool developed in-house.

This yields an estimated carbon footprint (in tonnes) for each trip or event.

We then multiply this tonnage by the relevant ICP to determine the customer’s Climate Action Budget.

This ensures each customer contributes in direct proportion to their climate impact, linking behaviour with responsibility in a clear and credible way.

  • The final step shifts the focus from simply “offsetting carbon” to supporting locally relevant, high-quality climate initiatives.

Breeze partners with local tourism boards, NGOs, and other stakeholders to identify impactful projects that promote both long-term climate resilience and community wellbeing. Funds from the Climate Action Budgets are distributed equitably across a portfolio of projects each year, ensuring diverse regional benefits and broad environmental outcomes.

While carbon prices may vary globally, Breeze prioritises initiatives that deliver high environmental and social returns per dollar - so whether a customer pays €10 or €50 per tonne, their contribution supports real, meaningful impact.

To summarise:

Breeze’s carbon pricing methodology offers a robust, transparent, and equitable way to convert emissions into positive action. By directly linking tonnage emitted to contribution made, and tailoring pricing to each customer segment, we’re building a model that is both financially realistic and environmentally ambitious.

Our ultimate goal is to redefine travel’s relationship with the planet - ensuring that every journey contributes to a more resilient and regenerative future.
